Obituary of Dot Buchanan
Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Buchanan was born in Sussex on January 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marjorie (Kaye) Pagett and wife of Eldon Buchanan.
Dot will live on in the hearts of her husband, Eldon; their children: Brian and his wife Kathy of Sussex, Bruce of Quispamsis, Britta Belliveau and her husband Dennis of Fredericton, Bradley and his wife Vicki of Sussex; her brother, Ernest Pagett and his wife Sylvia of Markhamville; her sisters: Joan Doherty of Apohaqui, Carol Floyd and her husband Clifford of Apohaqui; grandchildren: Jamie (Paul) Roy, Mark (Jodell Cameron), Evan, Brandon, Aidan, Cullen, Nathan, Lauren, Miriam; great-grandchildren: Elisa, Xavier; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dot was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked along side of Eldon on the dairy farm. Dot could be seen driving the tractor, working in the garden and helping at their auctions.
Dot loved to spend time knitting and handcrafting beautiful quilts for all those she loved. Anyone who entered her home, especially the kids, knew exactly where to find the cookie tin.
Her grandkids were her pride and joy. She loved to watch them enjoy the pool, play games and hear about their lives.
Dot’s faith was evidenced in her involvement in her church, St. Marks Anglican. She served on the Chancel Guild, sang in the choir, participated in the bible studies and was part of the Orange Lodge holding various offices over the years.
If she wasn’t helping herself to the goodies from the garden, she was counting the number of visitors to the bluff. If you had a question, she probably had the answer written down on a list. She took great pride in her record keeping.
Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Buchanan passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 22, 2020 at the age of 83.
