To the Alfred Attoe Family:
My belated condolences to the family.
I have fond memories of about 70 years ago, visiting your family, with my parents, Lee and Myrtle Secord, with my sister Myrna and brother, Donald.
At that time we lived on the corner of Erb Settlement road.
May you find comfort and peace as you mourn the loss of Alfred.
Helena (secord) and David Evans

So sorry to hear of Alfred's passing. We always saw Velma and Alfred as the "grand parents" of the neighborhood growing up in Erb Settlement.
Every time we drove by Alfred was out mowing his lawn and Velma was often outside tending to her flowers. I remember when ever we stopped in to visit there was always a snack or treat for us kids.
Alfred was a quiet and humble man, but his smile often spoke more than he ever needed to say. So sorry for your loss Velma.

Just hearing this Sad news. Our condolences go out to The love of Alfred’s life Velma.
Besides being a kind god giving man, Alfred was as honest as the day is long, and an amazing carpenter. .
Alfred built our first home in Sussex Corner, which we still occupy today. At the time I worked in Saint John while Alfred would work by himself doing the construction on his own. As with any new home construction we were worried about construction costs getting out of hand. Well, we could put those worries aside because when Alfred was finished the job he brought over his hand written bill, hand delivered. We couldn’t believe the breakdown in hours. 5.5 hours one day, 6.5 another day, etc, etc. While the house was being built in somewhat of a secluded area at the time, Alfred charged exactly what he worked and not a minute more. I believe the total labor costs where around $1700. This was in the mid 90’s and not in the 60’s or 70’s. Those rates, even in the 90’s was a once in a lifetime deal. There is a saying; “ Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching” . This is Alfred.
I still brag about this man to this day. They don’t make them like this anymore.
A life job well done Alfred!
Again our condolences to Velma.

Mrs Attoe - It was such an honour and privilege to be able to care for Alfred even if it was only for a short time. He was so humble and kind. Your love and devotion to each other was so evident in the way you looked at each other. It was a great pleasure getting to know you . My condolences to you and the rest of your family. Jewel
