Obituary of William Alfred Murray
William Alfred Murray was born in Penobsquis, NB on November 19, 1930, to the late Stetson and Bessie (Hall) Murray. After a long and happy 89 years, it is with sadness that his family announces that he passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at the Sussex Health Centre.
Throughout his life, Uncle Bill, as he was fondly called by family, could be found in his favourite place, Picadilly. Whether it was working in the woods, hunting or fishing, tapping trees and making maple syrup, or simply spending time with his brother and best friend, Harley, he loved his time on the family land.
When not in the woods, Bill spent his time either playing or watching sports, especially bowling and baseball. In his eyes, TV wasn’t worth watching unless a game was on. He often had company from his many family and friends, and while he denied having a sweet tooth himself, he was never without pink peppermints and cold chocolates for the taking—and a tease to go with them.
Bill will live on in the hearts of his brother Harley Murray; nieces and nephews: Sharon Murray-Bruneau (Richard) formerly Sharon Doucet (David), Cindy Creighton (Edgar), Joyce Hayes (Stephen), Doug Murray (Debbie), Sandra Metivier (Guy), David Murray (Lenora), as well as 15 great nieces and nephews, 15 great great nieces and nephews, and one on the way. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister-in-law Ruth Murray.
A special thank you to the staff at Berwick Place, caregiver and friend Heather Spicer, Extra Mural nurses, and the staff of the Sussex Health Centre for their care and kindness.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A Celebration of Bill's life will be held from Cardwell Cemetery, Penobsquis, NB on October 10, 2020 at 2:00pm.
