To the Norrad family! I knew Bert and his brothers who were closer to my age.I aways enjoyed bumping into him down town.He was so personable and always made you feel that you were someone special.He would remember things that were unique to your life.He would often ask me about Joe Finbow a mutual friend of ours.Joe is around his age.I will let him know the tragic news.

I remember as a young kid in Sussex his friendly face at the Canadian Tire on Main Street. Later a helpful hand when doing jobs for a local company at the Irving depot in town. His piano will ring in heaven.

I’ll never forget the day I met Bert. I took a chance and showed up at his door and introduced myself as a person “studying to become a ham radio operator”. A total stranger. He welcomed me into his home and took me right to his radio room “ham shack”. There he would welcome me many times over and show me the wonder of the hobby as my “Elmer”. He encouraged me from a chair to the side while he let me turn the dials, push the buttons and talk to other hams around the world! We had many great chats since that first day and I was blessed by the counsel he gave me about radio and life. He was a man of great knowledge, wisdom and kindness. I will miss you Bert.

Bert kept the Class of SHS 1952 together through the years after graduation as he helped with all of our many reunions-we could always call Bert if we needed help for most anything-computer-addresses-entertainer etc the list goes on and you were always there with your support Ruth which we all appreciated. Bert's family , we are sadden to learn of Bert's passing. I travelled a lot with Bert and Ruth and we had a memorable trip to St John Newfoundland to a Jaycee Convention back in the 70's. Bert had exerted an abundance of hard work and knowledge with projects he undertook. Realizing many benefits for the community. The Sussex Radio Station CJCW was one special project he saw it thru and the morning they went on the air and service it has been to our community was a direct result of Bert's hard work!
