Obituary of Murray Carl Steen
It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Murray Steen, 92, of Snider Mountain, which occurred on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Murray passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Center after a short stay. He was born on May 6, 1928 in Snider Mountain, NB, a son of the late George and Bessie (Ganong) Steen.
Murray had a kind smile, great sense of humour and cared so deeply for his family and his community. He was a member/deacon of the Snider Mountain Baptist Church. Murray loved crokinole, bowling, fishing, driving in his golf cart and being at the camp.
Murray is survived by his son, Neil (Edna) Steen of Snider Mountain; his daughter, Gail (Kevin) Lajoie of Hammond River; his chosen sister, Marvel Tribe of Sussex; his grandchildren: Jason Lajoie, Andrew Lajoie, Amy Savoie, Sonia Chase, Julie MacKenzie and Trevor Steen; his 13 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents Murray was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn (Long) Steen in 1998; his son, Clair Steen; his great grandson, Chiam Savoie; his brother, Alex Steen and his sisters: Annie, Blanche, Alice and Velma.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020 starting at 12:00pm until 4:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Wallace Funeral Home Community Chapel on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 11:00AM with Reverend Evans Bleakney presiding. Due to Covid-19, seats are limited. Following the service an interment will be held privately in the Snider Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Murray’s wishes are to hopefully get everyone together in Snider Mountain next summer for a Celebration of his life.
