Obituary of Fran O'Connor

It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Frances “Fran” O’Connor, 82, of Springdale on May 16, 2021 at the Sussex Health Center. Born in Saint John, Fran was a daughter to the late Frank & Belle (Clancey) Perkins.

Fran worked many clerical positions during her career including Daniels Insurance and The Department of Public Works in Saint John to her later years at The Sussex Health Centre, from where she retired in 1999. Fran was a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Sussex. After retirement Mom enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her Grandchildren, who loved to visit and enjoy her homemade chocolate chip cookies, pancakes, biscuits, apple pie and pumpkin pie. When not visiting with family, she could be found working on her many crafts including tole painting and quilting.

Fran is survived and sadly missed by her daughters, Catherine O’Connor of Saint John and Carolyn (Peter) Ritchie of Smith’s Creek; her son, Christopher O’Connor of Saint John; her brother, Vincent (Dawn) Perkins of Saint John; her sisters, Donna Gorman of Fredericton and Wendy (Jeff) Erb of Calgary; her grandchildren: Ashley (Chad), Andrew (Catherine), Hannah (Liam) and Matthew; her great grandchildren: Hailey, Sadie, Liam, Claire, Walker, Emily and many well loved extended family members.

Besides her parents, Fran was predeceased by her husband, Raymond O’Connor in 2014 and her infant sister Carolyn Perkins.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff of The Sussex Health Centre as well as Dow Quality Home Care for their support of care over the past two years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). Due to Covid-19 all arrangements will be held privately. If desired, donations may be made to the South Branch Cemetery Fund, Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
