Obituary of Joseph Michael Hayes

It is with Heavy Hearts that the family of Joe Hayes announce his passing at the Sussex Health Centre on July 30, 2021, at the age of 67.

Mr. Joseph Michael Hayes was born in Jeffries Corner on October 24, 1953. He was the son of the late Donald and Virginia (Travers) Hayes.

Joe left school in grade seven and joined the work force working for Glendale. Even from a young age he loved big trucks and heavy equipment, leading him to his field of work. From his many years with Sidney Davidson’s, to EJ Cunningham’s, Brown’s Paving and Sussex Excavators. He always loved his work.

Joe was always a homebody, but he loved people, especially his family. He was a kind soul and will be missed by many.

Joe will live on in the hearts of his siblings: Mary-Ellen Webster and her husband Danny of Sussex Corner, David and his wife Leslie of Moncton, Peter of Jeffries Corner, Stephen and his wife Joyce of Calgary, AB, Jane Folkins and her husband Harold of Collina, Frank and his wife Margaret of Roachville, Julie Drummond of Saint John, Carolyn LeBlanc of Sussex Corner, Paul of BC, Robert Hayes and Carol Dempster of Sussex and Gail Hayes and Kevin McLean of Sudbury, ON; his close friends: Patricia and Rick Davidson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Philip, William and Mark and by his brothers-in-law: Claude LeBlanc and Gary Drummond.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 11:00am. Interment will be held at Wards Creek Cemetery.
