Obituary of Walter Fenwick Secord

It is with sadness that the family of Walter Fenwick Secord, age 81, husband of Patricia, announces his death which occurred on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Sussex Health Center.  He was born on November 5, 1939, in Long Creek, NB, a son of the late Clifford and Alma (Fenwick) Secord.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia (Dobson) Secord; daughters: Pamela Secord (Bob Howe) of Long Creek, NB, Angela (Justin) Gullison of Quispamsis, NB; son Trevor Secord of Long Creek, NB; granddaughter Allie Gullison; sister Freda Milley. Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by his brother-in-law Chet Milley.

The center of Walter's life was always family and he started working at a young age on the family farm in Long Creek.  Growing up close with many cousins who have remained close over the years.  At the age of 32 marrying his beloved wife who constantly remained at his side, in full support.  Walter was a very dedicated father to their three children. He was employed with the department of transportation starting at Coles Island and then Chipman.

In retirement Walter enjoyed his time at his home in Long Creek.  Walter had a special spot for his only grand daughter: Allie and enjoyed his visits with her.  He enjoyed going out and listening to local country talent.  Everyone who knew Walter enjoyed his story telling.  One of his pass times was going for a drive to the store for the paper and a visit with the neighbors.

The family would like to Express their deepest thanks to the nurses of the Sussex Health Center, home care plus and Walter's care worker: Carol who enjoyed many cups of tea together.  A big thank-you to all neighbors who offered support and assistance for them both.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.  Funeral Service will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 3:00pm.  Interment will take place in Coles Island Cemetery.
