Our condolences to my Roachville family! The best summers of all time. Wether it was sitting on the back porch with Uncle Harold swinging before my feet could reach the ground or riding what felt like 50 feet in the air on top of a hay wagon, which was the same height as the mashed potatoes sitting on the table at the mid day feast in front of a smiling Harold. It was the most amazing cat farm ever, they had some cows and eels too. Some memories will never fade and there were so many!

I’ve been thinking about Harold a lot these past few days. I can clearly see him on a tractor looking back towards us on the hay wagon; or waving at passing vehicles from the creaky front porch swing; or sitting in his living room chair watching (& commenting on!) The Price is Right; or standing at the top of the hill calling the cows (“HEEERE CO CO CO CO CO CO CO!” - I might be off on the number of “CO’s”).
In my memories every day is sunny in Roachville and I can distinctly hear Harold’s laugh.

We can't imagine how you coped with these visits on top of the busy life you led, especially during haying season. That hospitality, your sense of fun and good spirited activities have given us and our families an appreciation of life on a dairy farm and the richness community involvement contributes to life. Watching your family grow up, the weddings we attended, and the always fine food and laughter around the Armstrong table have brought a lot of joy to all our lives. Judy and families ~ sorry to read of your father's passing. I lived in Roachville (Prescott Hill) since 1979 until 2009. I never knew about the red school bus that, I think served the Roachville school, until I read your dad's obit. I always thought until we actually moved into our house in Roachville, that my daughter would be going to that school. However. I don't remember when the school closed but it was before my daughter started school so she never got to go there. Judy, I used to see you and your husband on your bicycles driving on Nature Trail Drive to get back on the trail, I think, but haven't seen you lately. Now, getting back on track, I am so sorry to read of your dad's passing and please know that I will be thinking of you during this difficult time and the difficult days to come. Sincerely.

Our sincere condolences to Beatrice, Beth, Jean , Judy and families. I remember Harold parked in the coop grocery store parking lot on Wednesday waiting for the cattle auction sale to begin. I was on my way to work and he always had a big wave as I passed by. I remember the red school van for Roachville school I’ve know Harold since I was six and was a classmate with Jean at the school. Harold was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed I miss his friendly hug at church on Sunday morning.
