I met Chester through Sussex Lions Club. Our motto is WE SERVE. Chester was so grateful for the kindness he and his family had received he wanted to "pay back" he told us. He was welcomed as a new member and HE SERVED. He changed the atmosphere of the club. He worked hard as he whistled and told stories of his "homesteading" life with Pat. Gardening was a huge part of his life I understood. He never knew why anybody would be without a garden. He was very endeared to Portage Atlantic and made a beautiful contribution to them on behalf of the Lions. He spoke often of his children and grandchildren with love. He was very proud of his wife as an artist and wished to have art promoted. Since his failing health I have missed Chester, now I am sad but I take co0mfort knowing he is at peace.

I have so many great memories of Chester at parties at the Whitney farm, he and Pat's place or other rural countryfolk get togethers! He was ALWAYS smiling, with a loud, boisterous and infectious laugh. He will be missed and I wish his kids and extended family the strength to get through this.
