Obituary of Chester Grant Mercer

It is with great sadness that the family of Chester Grant Mercer announces his passing, which occurred on January 10, 2023, at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Norton, NB, on February 27, 1948, he was a son of the Late Murray and Helen “Nellie” (Marks) Mercer.

Chester is survived by his children: Jennifer “Mercer” Thorne of Summerfield, Ryan Mercer (Chantal) of Armstrong, BC, and Sean Mercer of Smiths Creek; his grandchildren: Corey and Samantha Thorne, Morgan and Mikayla Faucett, and Kristopher, Brianna, Mercer; his great-grandchildren: Blair, Liam, Millie, and Fallon; his sisters, Carolyn Webster of Sussex, Rose Arsenault (Francis) of Shediac, Wanda Morrell of Sussex, and his brother, Russell Mercer (Hilda) of Calgary, AB. Chester is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Chester was also predeceased by his wife, Patricia.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176), from where a visitation will take place on Saturday, January 14 from 4-7pm. A celebration of Chester’s life will take place on Sunday, January 15 at 2pm from the Wallace Community Chapel.
