Obituary of Carol Brown

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that the family of Carol Ann Brown announce her sudden passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 12, 2023 at the age of 74.

Born in Sussex on January 3, 1949; she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Beulah (Starkey) Hourihan.

Carol married her soulmate, Robert Garry Brown in 1970. She never thought it was possible to love anyone more, until they welcomed the greatest love of her life – their son, Shawn and together they were able to build a wonderful love story for 37 years, until Bob’s passing in 2007.

She had a passion for music and loved dancing and a good kitchen party. Carol enjoyed a good country drive, hunting for partridge with Shawn, an ocean view, and a good feed of seafood.

Carol was a woman with a heart of gold, kind eyes and a heart-warming smile. She loved to laugh and would give anything to anyone in need. To be part of her life was to blessed and she will be dearly missed.

Her light will live on in the hearts of her son, Shawn Brown of Riverbank; her sister, Joyce Hawthorn of Victoria, BC; her sisters-in-law: Elaine Hourihan, Dorothy Brown and Gamil Khalil; her dear friends: Mike and Ruth Nelson; her special cousin, Ann Sharp; her fur baby, Mia; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her loving husband, she is predeceased by her brothers: Bud, Ray, Gerry and James.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 1-3 and 6-8pm. A celebration of Carol’s life will take place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11:00am from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (114 Church Ave, Sussex, NB).
